PROBUS AUKTION; FINE ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR, STOCKHOLM, APRIL 19th

Probus Auction Stockholm are holding their spring sale on April 19th. The sale includes a wide selection of fine antique arms, orders and militaria. Carrying the highest estimate of $15000 is a beautiful pair of Dutch early 18th C pistols by Jan De Wyka, Utrecht with the muzzles engraved “Lucky is he who escapes me”.  Other fine guns in the sale include a Swedish wheellock pistol C 1690, a German flintlock pistol by Bongarde Dusseldorf and German flintlock rifle C 1680 with a fabulously carved stock.  Among the edged weapons offered are a Swedish M1701 sword, a rare unmodified M1685 infantry sword as well as fine Chinese, Russian French and English examples.

A range of American revolvers in the catalog includes examples by Rogers and Spencer, Remington, Colt, Bacon, Alan & Wheelock and Starr. Among the unusual lots in the sale are an Indian revolving multi-barreled matchlock with finely chiseled work and an early 20th C. Hungarian presentation sabre. CZERNYS ARMS & ARMOUR AUCTION, APRIL 9th

Czerny’s April sale catalogue is now online. The sale includes a French cuirassier armour C. 1630 pictured as well as other amours and defensive elements, 17th C and later.  Among the antique guns in the sale are several pairs of cased pistols, some fine artistic examples of Dutch and Brescian pistols as well as a superb French swivel flintlock pistol C 1700.  Among the long guns are exotic examples of English and Spanish grenade launching guns as well as matchlocks and wheelocks. Some of the most desirable lots in the sale are among the antique sporting arms. A selection of superb French, Italian and German sporting guns offered includes many highly decorated and embellished flintlock and percussion examplesand includes the French example by Gauvain pictured. Several modern English doubles are also offered, guns by Chrles Boswelll among them.
A good section of early European swords in the sale includes rapiers, schiavonas, smallswords, falchions, processional two-handed swords and early medieval broadswords. CAROL WATSONS: ANTIQUE & MODERN FIREARMS MARCH 13th 14th

A superb Holland and Holland double ejector rifle for .30 super flanged cartridges is being offered by Carol Watsons Auction on March 13th.  It was made in 1954 and carries and estimate of 30,000-$40,000> Other top lots in the sale include an Gemmer, St Louis, sporting or Buffalo rifle, a Sharps New Model 1859 percussion rifle, two good Colt 1873 Single action Army’s and a Purdey back action rifle with good historical provenance

Reata Pass’s Cowboy and firearms sale of the 30th includes this fine engraved S&W 44 Russian with Wexall and DeGries patent gilt and relief metal grips. Other rare antique lots offered include a WWI Steyr M95 sniper rifle, a colt 1871-72 open top .44 RF, A British 1803 flintlock Baker flintlock cavalry rifle and a martially marked Colt 1860 Army.

Among the modern sporting guns offered are a cased Beretta Orvis Uplander two barrel set, a Marlin whitetail special in 45-70gvt, a Weatherby mark V 300 Weatherby magnum, a cased SKB M 385 two barrel set, and a Winchester model 70 featherweight in 358 Winchester. An engraved Winchester/Miroku Model 1873 Grade 4 lever action is a lot to snap up in Rock Island’s last sale of the year. The online sale closes on the 29th and among other nice long guns in the sale are a Winchester Model 12 slide action 28 gauge shotgun, a Winchester Jack O'Connor special edition model 70 bolt action rifle and a Heckler & Koch model SL6 semi-automatic rifle. 
 
Pistols in the sale include a scarce Beretta Model 96 combat semi-automatic pistol, a HK4 Semi-automatic pistol with box and .22 LR conversion kit. a Colt New Service .38 W.C.F. double action revolver, a silver mounted Collumbell percussion conversion screw-barrel Pistol and a Colt Third Generation Single Action Army revolver. CZERNYS FINE ARMS AND ARMOUR: DEC 19TH

Czerny’s sale of December 19th includes this fabulous pair of presentation flintlock pistols by Vignat Marseilles. A wide selection of superb lots includes several sets of full and ¾ armour, an outstanding French renaissance dagger circa 1570,  an exceptionally fine  Dresden rapier from the same period, a 17th C Mughal tulwar, property of emperor  Jahangir with laddered wootz and a pair of early 18th C German bronze cannons.  

Among other lots in the sale are an exquisite pair of Greek Roka style pistols, a rare and early Wheelock pistol C 1560 and an American Henry rifle .

Auction Imperials’ sale of December 10th has a full catalog of scarce and attractive lots. The particular expertise of this auction house is reflected in one of the more spectacular lots, the armor of Sahib Giray II, an 18th C  Khan of Crimea. A detail of the helmet is pictured.

Other lots offered include a range of fine Mughal, Ottoman & Persian shamshirs and pala’s. Indian shamshirs and tulwars are included, as are edged weapons from Hungary, Yemen and a range of European countries.

There is a good selection of armour in the sale as well as flintlock and percussion firearms.

Antikvity Praha’s December sale includes a great selection of fine longarms, armour, swords and related militaria. Pictured left are some of the more desirable long guns offered included a fine German wheellock, a side by side percussion shotgun by Mathias Wlascheck in Prague, fine pinfire shotguns by Emile Bernard and Lejuene-Chamont in Liege  and a heavy pinfire Rifle by Reiger in Munich. Other guns include cased flintlock by Ryan and Watson, flintlock and percussion examples by Kuchenreuter and a cased James Warner Pocket Pistol.

Edged weapons offered include a good schiavona, a German executioner’s sword, a French AN IV Sabre and several fine rapiers including a fine Pappenheim type and an example with a blade by Juan Martinez. The catalog for Probus Auktion’s  Nov 16th sale is now online. Lots in the sale include a fine rapier C1600, one of the many edged weapons offered. Others are fine Russian silver Shasqua from St Petersburg, dated 1867, a rare Swedish Pallasch M 1778, early Tessack and Dussage swords and a Scottish baskethilt broadsword. Among the many guns in the sale are wheelock, flintlock, miquelet and percussion rifles and pistols, both military and civilian. Among the rarer guns are a pair of Russian Dueling Pistols by Bertrand & Javalet St. Petersburg  pictured here,  and a Wender style English flintlock by T Richards. SOFE DESIGN AUCTION: ANTIQUE ARMS & ART, NOV 7th

Sofe Designs’ Winter Arms & Antiques sale takes place on Nov 7th. Pictured is a rare and fine Greek silver mounted sword, one of the highlights of the sale. Other Eastern edged weapons in the sale include Ottoman, Persian and Syrian shamshirs as well as a good kilij. Among the European swords in the sale are early rapiers, French 19th C. Cavalry swords and rare Russian and Hungarian sabers.
Several good American examples are also offered including a presentation artillery example with silver hilt and a mameluke marine sword from the Norm Flayderman collection. Other swords include  an unusual Filipin Sanduko sword present to a US doctor in 1901.

Among the antique guns in the sale is a Mughal rifle with chiseled barrel as well as pairs of flintlock and percussion pistols.  Napoleonic German and Spanish examples are included. Click on the image for a link to the sale.
